I hope the pizza map is kept. I understand people's frustration with it, but I think some people have the wrong approach to it. Some log on with a preconceived notion of what they want to do. When they can't find it, they get frustrated or bored. Others look at the map to see what can be done and then do it.
Yesterday when pizza was up in error, I took a P47 from a 12K airfield, and went hunting. Landed 4 kills. No big deal, but I would probably have struggled to find this type of fight on another map in a P47. I was able to get to 20K in a reasonably short space of time - and that's where most of the fight took place. Later on, when the children's map was on, I couldn't get much higher than 8K before being spotted by cons...
Alt sucks? Not to the P47. It's where it excels, partly because other planes suck at that altitude, but largely because of its speed and "zoominess" because of that paddled prop.
-doesn't resemble anything on earth ? I don't agree. Just last week I saw the WW2 film Tobruk, set in Africa. I remember thinking how much the terrains resembled those of the pizza map. I've also flown over Iran, and much of that country is mountainous desert.
-canyons sux (10K!) Well maybe you have a point there. Also the terrains are hard on the eyes, and make it difficult to see cons - one or two missed shots in my film - LOL.
People say they can't find fights on Pizza. I don't agree with that either. I found that four kill fight during Euro hours - only 61 people were logged on when I joined. OK, you're not going to see a fragfest where someone is getting shot up every 2 seconds - is that what you want? Because that, in your own words, doesn't resemble anything on earth.
Balance, my boy, Balance!
