I agree... quite like it.

Outta curiousity, how is it not what you expected? After the last couple I didn't know what to expect... I suppose I've been waiting for them to ease back out of the techno stuff a bit more (I would love to see another Bends), and compared to the last two this does that... guitars... less loopage... to a degree. I think I'd call this a transitional record, from kid a and amnesiac to.... whatever's next.

Btw., hows this for a tour line-up:

Radiohead with Steve Malkmus (Pavement) on the 30th.... and REM with Wilco the next day. How cool is that? 4 absolutely smokin' bands in 2 days at this fantastic outdoor venue.

It feels like a more personal album than anything they've done previously. By that I mean the arrangements stick to simple and few instruments, and the lyrics seem more personal than previous stuff. My understanding is that all of the songs were recorded live in the studio, so they have that almost concert feel to them. More raw and less pre-arranged or studio composed and a pretty far cry from the orchestral sounds and complex arrangements of OK Computer.

It's great stuff. I especially like the last song, A Wolf at the Door. It reminds me of Street Spirit only more raw.
