AcesHigh1 Diplomacy: Spring 1901
« on: June 23, 2003, 10:29:19 PM »

The Austrian (Bounder) opens with the Balkan Gambit and no defensive moves against Russia or Italy.

England (Syz) starts with a Southern Opening, a "blatantly anti-French" opening.

Likewise, France (Hortlund) goes with a Manche Opening, an anti-English move.

Germany (banana) goes with the Blitzkrieg Opening. This is a common opening when "France is an ally, Russia is neutral or suspect, and England is the objective."

Italy (Dowding) starts with the Obriani Opening, considered to be "the best anti-Austrian" opening.

Russia (Nash) is evidently going with one of the variants of the Ukraine System.

Turkey (Sling) opens with the Balkan Concentration.

After the dust settles:

Just one bounce... English Channel.

England as an objective? Surely you jest. The peaceful German peoples have no intention other than to protect the poor, oppressed people of Denmark.  Why, it was just two weeks ago that reports of Danish transgressions against their people became known to me.

Germany covets our friendly relationship with the English king and his peoples. As an honorary Admiral in the English Navy, why would I want to jeopardize my annual participation in the Cowes yacht competition held every summer?

I am pleased to be on friendly relations with all the great nations of Europe. All this talk about tensions and hostilities are lies, all lies. There is no tension or hostility among the great countries of Europe. It is plain to see that Germany is content to live peaceably with its neighbors.

Arch-Duke Ferdinand, the Second. I hear he's in Sarajevo on a state sponsored jolly.

Sandy, while I appreciate your thoughts, I had hoped you would save you interpretaions, as opposed to just reporrting the moves alone, for a post mortem retrospective.  Please don't be stating your analysis at this point.  It tends to artificially skew the game when you mention your thoughts about moves.  This game is between the players and it is for them to decide what the moves mean. Your views effectively put another player into the game, and one that is privy to everyone's moves and emails.  I realize you are the master, but the master has no say so, and it is up to the players to decide what the moves mean, not the master.

But, so long as you are just joking, I say the following:

Anti French?  Ah, you are so wrong.
I've merely attempted to place my fleet in a position to contiunously supply the Island with Brie and Pate from our French cousins.

England was never a threat to France.  It's just redikulus.  If France has the brains everyone thinks it does, it will surely see that and post its attentions elsewhere.

And surely, you don't suggest that the great Kaiser has any ill intentions.  Surely he hath told me different!.  In fact, he has offered me a iron clad armistice which, according to Russian dogman, is as good as gold, right?

Germany was never a threat to England.  it's just redikilus

I think it is all America's fault anyway!

No analysis from me... I simply paraphrased the descriptions from the openings library using the moves as ordered. I'm woefully behind on reading the emails.

Don't worry Syz,

Sandman didn't say anything that would give anything away. I like his analysis because it gives us a chance to speak on the BBS in a humorous way in an attempt to explain what's going on.

There is nothing related to what is said on this BBS to what is really happening behind the scenes.

Keep it up, Sandy!

Okay, then I am not clear about this retreat thing.  Do you have to retreat or can you move anywhere?

Great Britain England never retreats!

We got no place else to go, cept mabe Northern Ireland!
