Looks like the Hussein loyalists are going to play the game of Media attrition, where the world eventually turns against any foreign troops in that country due to nickel/dime deaths, and demand a pull out. Then the madmen can go back to enjoying their fun.

I can't remember if the British troops wore flak jackets in Northern Ireland. I know they found they got a better response from civilians if they 'dressed down', so to speak.

Which reminds me of an old British Army officer recruitment advert, where you are watching some African warlord minion shout at you from the first person perspective, waving his AK in your face a checkpoint. The officer takes off his sunglasses, and the guy calms down and actually starts to sound reasonable.
War! Never been so much fun. War! Never been so much fun! Go to your brother, Kill him with your gun, Leave him lying in his uniform, Dying in the sun.

I saw that Schadenfreunde. The fella in civillian clothing from Whitehall handling the press gives me the creeps.

It was interesting to see the reaction from the wingmen of the Tornado shot down by the US partiot missile. I agreed with his sentiments about the 'courtesy' visit by the commander of the battery shortly after the event. I think that was shortsighted and a little crass.

The insight into media relations and the actual ops side was fascinating.

It does work Syz. That's why the British wanted to get out of helmets and into berets as soon as feasibly possible. It's why they have ditched their protective clothing for the most part.

How so? Facts and data please.

(Join the FDB's,...become a "Troll Master"...you're a rookie)

Incidently "Nickel/dime" means to pick away in small numbers, not in a sense of "worth", you idjits. But, considering who is replying to me, its no wonder I have to spell it out.

I understand your point Dowderoni, er Dowdochini.  I admit it's a Catch 22; the civilians react aggressively if you wear your battle armor, and you are a sitting duck if you don't wear your battle armor.

But, I don't know that the general security condition warrants giving up protecive clothing.  I also think it isn't as much what you wear but how you act, witness the U.S. forces who avoided a deadly riot by pointing their weapons at the ground and kneeling.

IMHO, it just goes to show the military is are ill suited for policing!

Eventually?.. 3/4 of the world are already against war of aggression. In fact I would suggest most of the world considers war of aggression a major war crime regardless of what euphuisms are used.
