Time to Re-install AH?
« on: June 25, 2003, 07:57:33 AM »
Wondering if I should start over. Lately AH hasn't been up to snuff. I've been through three computers throughout my AH career. With each new accqusition I've burned a CD and used that to install the game on the new PC (unchecking the read only box after installation).

Serious case of rubber bullets while my planes are fragile to the extream. Been seeing some serious warping too. Some online warping is to be expected of course, but flying off-line the drones are warping too. Hate to reinstall with reseting all the views, and redoing my joystick and rudder pedal profiles.

Any ideas out there?

Weav,

Do you experience the same problem with any other games/programs on your machine?  Are you running anything in the background (known or unknown) that is hogging your CPU cycles?  Do you have the latest drivers for all your hardware?  If you're offline and the drones are warping it sounds like your system is shy on resources, or something else is hogging them all.

You've probably already done this one, but...turn down the hardware acceleration of your sound card to 3/4.  Some claim it helps...

Thanks John, Machine is a P4 2.8g with a 128meg g-force 4 and a SB Live sound card. A ctrl alt delete doesn't show any thing else running or using the cpu. Connected via cable modem, which could be the source of my rubber bullets when hitting someone with a slow dial up.

With the drones warping, just thought I might have a small coruption in one of the AH files.
