« on: September 01, 1999, 10:21:00 AM »
Almost forgot to post this one here too:
I found some interesting data on the MC 205 Veltro on the web, here's the link:

 http://www.museoscienza.org/english/aereo/mc205.html

Hope this kind of stuff is helpful to you guys.

Hi Sasha!
Nice to see that not only we italian "pilots" are interested on having italian fighter in AH.
The link is longer known, but unfortunatly doesn't contains useful flight data.
All we of WB 4°Stormo Caccia and especially our historian Ferdinando "veltro" D'Amico are still searchging for those data.
The only data i know is that the 205 reached 6000m (18000 ft) in exactly 5 min.
I must say that F. D'Amico was able to find many real flight data of the 202, the predecessor of the 205, which was neither more nor less than a 202 with the 1475 hp DB engine, and sent it several times to Pyro and Hitech, but it seems that they lost this data.
Ciao.

Hmmm..since I am not a programmer I don't know just how much info you need to model a plane correctly, but isn t this stuff enough?

Span: 10.58 m
Length: 8.85 m
Height: 3.48 m
Absolute maximum speed: 642 km/h at an altitude of 7,200 m; safety speed 158 km/h
Absolute ceiling: 11,200 m; service ceiling: 11,000 m.
Cruising speed: 580 km/h
Maximum range: 985 km
Weight empty: 3,408 kg
Total weight: 7581 kg
The useful load consists of:

two 12.7-bore weapons: 60 kg; two 20-bore weapons: 84 kg; 740 12.7-bore cartridges: 76 kg; 250 20-bore cartridges: 100 kg; radio transmitter and receiver, and
radiocompass: 51 kg; pilot wearing a harness with a parachute attached: 85 kg; collimating sight, oxygen set, first aid kit, pneumatic dinghy, and pyrotechnic pistol: 31 kg;
gasoline: 307 kg; oil: 33 kg

Wing loading: 202.8 kg/m2; weight per horse-power: 2.73 kg/hp; surface power: 74.40 hp/m2

Even if that's not enough, you should be able to get more details since (as mentioned on this page) they restored the MC 205 to flying condition. So there's gotta be someone out there who flew this bird not too long ago. Maybe you Italian guys can get in contact with the museum?

Tschüß

Unfortunately not, because it lacks the data about the flying characteristics (e.g. rate of climb at various engine settings, max sustained turn speed and so on...)

Well, let's start saying that the museum didn't restore anything. The "once" flying C.205 was restored by the Aermacchi. They, however, didn't have any original flight data eventually survived to the war and those obtained during the testing were useless since (as you can easily imagine) the plane was never brough to its limits but safely flown well below them... (they managed to crash the plane all the same... but this is another story...)

Aermacchi has been already contacted more than once, but no original flight data was found.

It would be nonetheless interesting to know EXACTLY and once for all by the game designers what data are requested... if this is not too much trouble, of course!

All the best and ... L'E' BUNA !

What a shame!

Breaks my heart to hear that they crashed this baby..

Well, maybe with some "educated guessing" they be able to eventually model the plane just from the raw data.

Per DRAGOBOSS
mmmhhhh....dalle tue parole sembra possibile ritenere che sei italiano....  :-)
Posso chiedere chi sei?
E, soprattutto, sai qualcosa in più sul 205?
Ciao!!

I think there is not any sense in what he posted. How could it be with such a nickname?

... the Eyeties are comparatively easy to shot down. Oh, they're brave enough. In fact, I think the Eyeties have more courage than the Germans, but their tactics aren't so good. They are very good gliders, but they try to do clever acrobatics and looping. They will stick it even if things are going against them, whereas the Jerries will run.
