I go online at HTC and as soon as I get into the arena this message scrolls up in red text: Not receiving updates switched to TCP

WTfffF?

Gameplay is obviously affected, lots-o-warps
and overall stuttering.  Is it me or what?

Yer prolly behind a firewall or some kind of NAT scheme?  Ozreckons that UDP packets can not get thru, so is using TCP/IP for updates instead.  Do you have anything else sharing the net connection?

Firewall is one reason for those messages.. the other is just a toejamty connect.  If there are connect problems with UDP, it will try TCP before it toejamcans you.  I saw the same message last night when there were major connect problems.

1 Million + downloads of Q3A Demo Test likely isn't helping.  HTC is 5 minutes from Id software.

Try checking poll with interrupts on ur joystick configuration in control panel reply if this works.

in server type settings for your dial up connection make sure that all the protocals are checked and in the other tab (forget the name) make sure that log on to network is unchecked....assuming u aren't behind a firewall.

This has been occurring since day one.  I get it everytime with no ill effects.  I was told to ignore it.
