Annoying thing about IE

In Netscape, you can go into a frame and say 'open frame in new window'. This is great when you're on this board and wants to bookmark a specific thread.

Used to use Netscape exclusively, but it chrashed many times and was generally buggy. Just got a new install of WinXP and haven't installed Netscape yet. But IE doesn't seem to have a function where you can open a frame in a new window - or am i missing something?

If I am not, it is downright pathetic that IE doesn't have this easy-to-implement feature.

I just have a direct link to this board on my desktop, so I never get the top frame for a start.

Another trick here in this boards would be to shift-click the above thread or board titles, that would open the link in a new window without the frame.

I used Netscape until it just refused to work.

????

right click.  then click 'open in new window'.

2nd option down in the popup window.

Plus if you only want the thread in a new window so you can bookmark it......well that's an option on the popup window as well.

That's when you're over a link, yes.

I am talking about when you are actually *in* a frame. It's not just this website; on other sites the aforementioned method isn't possible.

Annoying.

I fart in the general direction of IE.

On current Win 2kl/XP systems, I know about 3 unfixed methods to run *any* code on the client machine. Mozilla kills 2 of the bugs b/c it can`t handle VBScript... the other one comes from the fuxx0red IE MSXML handling.

Why use IE when you can have free, good alternatives ? Wanna inflate the egos in Redmond some more ?

BTW other than DirectX, are there any other reasons for AH to run under Windows ? WINE is a pain...

I use Mozilla Firebird - you can open a web page in a new 'tab' and browse between them freely. The latest version is pretty bug free and fast.

Umm... in IE, right-click a link and select "Open in new window", tadaa !

"Open frame in new window" is not in IE - if you really like IE I got some VB6 code here (was forced to use VB ;) ) to open IE, or the default browser, and navigate et al. Drop me a line on duraflex.delete.everything.after_and_including.1st_dot@gmx.net
 if you want it.

Santa - I had the same problem a while ago. Existing windows would get reused.

Try this: Open IE, click on Tools at the top, and choose Internet Options at the bottom of the drop down list. Then click the Advanced tab. You should get a window that looks something like this (my system is W2000 Pro) -->

In the Browsing options, scroll down until you find the "Reuse windows for launching shortcuts" checkbox. Make sure that this checkbox is unchecked.
