How bout 262 kill stories?
Well, the best 262 kill I've ever made was when i'd joined a mixed-force assault against a field up in the NW corner of the pizza map (A21 or A25, I think); I got sidetracked by GVs upping from the field, and held off the GVs long enough for the VH to get taken down, at the expense of getting tracked. So I wasn't going anywhere.
Well, the attack on the town petered out -- having to drive past the field will do that -- so I was left there about 1500 yards away from the runway, being pretty much ignored by the enemy aircraft, who had other aircraft to shoot down.
Well, with a couple of ranging shots, I discovered that the nearest runway spawn point was just under 1800 yards out, so I sat there and watched. Spitfire pops up. Crank in a touch of lead to allow for it's starting to roll on takeoff, and... *BOOM* Spitfire dies. Fix on that point. F4U and P-47. *BOOM* Two more kills. A-20. *BOOM* Another kill. Then the magic moment; a 262 popped up -- the field now being a layer back from the 'front', it must have felt safe. *BOOM* No more 262. Total 262 flight time, three seconds. I can only imagine what the 262 pilot was saying after spending 200 perks for 3 seconds on the runway, when as far as he could see, the sky was clear of enemy aircraft.
I got eight more long-range vulches before I ran out of ammo, and bailed rather than wait for someone to be stupid enough to wander into range of my pintle or bow machine guns long enough for me to shoot them down. Eighteen kills, not landed, but it
did do wonders for my K/D that camp. And I'll never forget watching that 262 explode from a shot he probably never saw.
