You mean the "XAT-6E" in the jpeg properties doesn't reflect that this is an AT-6 prototype?

hehehe that is correct, it is not "the" AT-6 prototype.....but it is "an" AT-6 prototype.
Although I wanst trying to hide the answer, thanks for posting it ...ARGH!!!

Did a little digging and found that this plane was a one of a kind engine test aircraft. The Air Corps was testing in preparation for a shortage of Pratt & Whitney Wasp engines. The engine they used was a Ranger inverted V-12. Turns out the engine had some problems and the Air Corps decided it was a no-go. The plane was later sold off as surplus.

that would be the one. It was sold a guy that raced it in several air races...then again sold, it was last seen in South America and had been converted to a normal AT-6, which is what it was when converted to the Ranger engine for testing...(AT-6D SN# 42-84241)
