F4U surprise??
« on: November 18, 1999, 11:18:00 PM »
So with the introduction  of the F4U-1D, is there a hidden surprise for us in store? A CV
or water in the mix, maybe? (g)

Also, really when we getting a P38 variant? :-)

First, they gotta finish the artwork for the F4U.  Note the absence of cockpit shots or even a pilot at the controls.  Them artists are workin' hard, but they ain't gonna rustle up no CV outta the woods this week.
Besides, for a CV you'd need new terrain.  And it'd be nice to have more than one plane capable of CV ops.
Judging by the state of the F4U, the only A/C that particular artist will be working on in the coming days will be the Hawg.  (Lookin' good, BTW).

Please take the time to model the aircraft correctly.

Warbirds had been running a porked version of the Hawg for quite some time.

Would hate to see the same problem happen here.  Lets get it right the first time and save alot of anguish and argueing later.

A note to Natedog.  I only noticed one small discrepancy in the F4U-1D art.  The prop hub was actually black on the Air Group 84 Corsairs.

That tidbit aside, I'm completely impressed with what I've see so far!   Can't wait for the day the Corsair enters the Beta.  Keep up the good work!

Oh, and thanks for letting us have a small part in designing this sim Natedog. What a kick to catch a misque and have the art director respond about fixing it right away. Your building a loyal group of pilots here!

Actually, I believe the arrow on the wing means 'this side toward enemy'.

no point in adding the f4u until damage modeling is done. why fly it when a n1k can turn better and take just as many hits?  better roll rate (to one side) i guess.

What we need is german bomber after 2 (TWO!) US bombers and soon coming brit bomber.
Ju88A-4 with its different versions, including nose mounted 20mm and so on
He111 or Do17Z could be neat as well.
or how about just Me410?
Also something far less seen german fighters like Fw190D12 or D13 could be neat addition.
(faster than P51...)
