Downed pilot rescue

Heh thats an idea, with the player being the ONLY person capable of doing the rescue flight.  Once the player has chosen to do a rescue flight, he/she will ONLY have the option of flying the rescue plane.  Also no indication on the map of where the downed persona is.  If the player reaches his downed persona lands and rtb's they are then able to fly any plane they wish.

If the player is unable to find his downed persona or gives up, he then accepts a death and can reup as if he'd died in the first place.  (only after rtb in the rescue plane or add a second death)

Perhaps a downed wreck of the original plane should be left on the terrain as long as the player is looking for his downed persona.  This would allow the enemy the chance to intervene/intercept.  If they kill your downed persona = 1 death.  Player would still have to rtb rescue plane.

This seems like most suitable method of implementing without any negative side effects...

Instead of auto-refuling/rearming at the pads why not add something that requires more action.

- make it possible for the pilot to climb out of and into an airplane
- at the little boxes near the rearm pads add the possiblity to pick up the fuel hose and some ammunitation (not both at once though), and even bombs on little trolleys either at hangars or the ammo depots.
- let the player pick them up, and carry them to the plane :)

And... always spawn planes in hangars, with enough fuel and ammo for combat, everything else has to be picked up manually. That way jabo operation takes a lot more time than field defence, slowing down pork-and-auger. But that's more for ah2-classic.

And I guess it has nothing to do with downed pilot rescue, oops.

I got another idea that might go with my first one.

A special squad of pilots that will fly missions like SAR, Pathfinder (marking night targets with flares and/or incendry bombs), and airborne recon missions.

So one mission they would be scouting out the layout of some place, the next they would be rescuing the people sent to bomb that target.

This idea would proburly only work in the ToD, where as the first would work in both.

If both were implamented, the downed pilot would have the option of either hiding somewhere decent and flying his own rescue plane and trying to find his own persona, or wait for a SAR team to find him. And also so he doesn't bored, let him find the materials to build his own rescue fire.

Why not program the thing that made WWIIOL hype all over the world,

"You can fly an airplane, then bail out, then jump into an tank, then you can jump out of the tank, jump into the jeep etc etc"

This was one of the best "vapor ware" promotion features imho...

Imagine bailing close to an enemy field, you sneek up to some dude getting ready for take off, you jump up on the wing and shoot him in his face with your gun, then you steal his aircraft!

How cool wouldnt that be? :)

It wouldnt cause an problem... Your country-men would still see your handle as "Maniac" therefore i must be friendly...

Would be so cool if HT could program this, WWIIOL still dont have it in their game hehe...

Yeah, we should be able to beat up officers and nick their money, then find a hooker to increase your health factor.

I kinda like the idea of pilot rescue.

The thought of some poor sole begging and pleading for hours at a time on channel 2 brings a smile to my face.  Why, it would almost be enough to make me not want to pop chutes just to put the bad guy teams through it.

almost.

oct's first AH2 suggestion ok here i go:

Say a mission has just begun and the roll window (like the special events arena) has closed.  Those who are late may choose to participate by flying a Storch/catalina/whatever to aid the bailed pilots.  Perhaps, if points are involved, this will cut a percentage of the total loss of points if rescued.  It would be similar to recieving a "You have bailed successfully" (50% of perks?)  instead of a "you have been captured" (25% of perks?) message.
