Ok so on the big maps...
« on: June 30, 2003, 08:28:32 AM »
why can't we change all the vehicle fields into airfields... except maybe the tank furball island in infinity?

why do we even need vehicle fields?  every airfield has a vehicle pad and.. it's not like having vehicle fields is gonna promote guys driving from one to the other (except in the tank furball island in infinity).

I might be missing something but what is the point of the vehicle fields?

The purpose of the vehicle fields is to make it easier to capture airfields.  Vehicle fields are the easiest fields to capture and the most difficult to defend.  If you can capture a couple of vehicle fields that spawn to an airfield, you can capture that airfield much easier than trying to do it by sea or air.  Depending on the spawn point, its sometimes easier to drive an M3 into the city than to try and fly in a C-47.

but you don't drive to anything in the GV's anyway.   spawn points are still spawn points.   Capturing GV fields is nothin, you can't fly ac from them so they don't improve your position and they can be ignored by ac.

GV's just magically spawn out of nowhere anyway.   what would have to change if there were no dedicated GV fields except at airfields?

Lazs, if you make a map I'd bet HiTech will put it up. Hell, I'll even help ya.

I agree with lazs on this one. Why not? Gv's already have life pretty easy, they can be repaired, refuelled, and rearmed on the field and they can spawn a shorter drive to most bases than any fighter can get.

These "change-the-game-because-it's-not-the-way-i-want-it-ME-ME-ME-ME-ME" whines are getting old. I agree with AKIron and Nobaddy. In fact I've developed a new map just for Lazs. It's in its embryonic phase at the moment, but I don't think it will require much extra work...

mw9... you really need to get out a little more... I don't even know who you are and you spend 5 hours thinking I care? 5 hours???  5 friggin hours talking to 30 imaginary friends??? what a nerd...  Were you one of those guys who felt standing in line for 5 hors in costume at the star wars movie opening was a good use of time too?

iron and NB.   I have no idea how to do a map.  Allmost no puter skills but... change the GV fields to airfields and the maps are ok.  add as many cv's as possible.  There... see... I drew a map.

I could get a little more creative and ask that an area be carved out of a portion of the large maps that would be surrounded by 50k mountains and be 3 sectors away from the nearest other fields... it would have say 12 or so airfields all 3/4 of a sector apart and early war only planes allowed to take off..  seperate reset from the rest of the map... rest of the map unchanged... there..... I made two maps.

beetle has no clue as to what i want.   or... he does but he won't admit it or... he is lieing... or a combination of the above.

You dress in star wars costumes to get 75 year old women "in the sack"?

And I thought droning around talking to 30 imaginary crew members for 5 hours in the hope that I may notice you was odd...

The only skills required are a little imagination and the ability to operate a pencil. Quit tellin' everyone to fix it the way you want it and do it yourself (much more effective) :D. One thing to keep in mind, you have to try your best to effectively satisfy all of the various groups and different play styles....and THAT is what makes it tough :).

Back on topic...

I think you missed the first post, Lazs.

GV fields are, as you know, much easier to capture than airfields. Making those V bases into A bases, would thereby negate the ease at which they can be captured.

The purpose of making a V base easy to capture is so that the vehicles spawning from that V base can be used to make a ground offensive against nearby A bases.

It's another facet in the overall game.

If you make the V bases as hard to capture as the A bases, you negate their existence to some extent.

Now, please don't take this as accusatory, but you are a verteran player, and probably know full well why there are V bases. Is this part of an overall campaign to try to eliminate everything in AH but fighters, or is this just part of the "Move the fields closer" campaign?
