No it doesnt matter if you are in a squad. We are just looking for folks who would be interested in leading a flight.
It mostly entails organizing your flight, emailing your pilots and making sure they understand their roll. With an existing squad structure its a bit easier of the flight leader but its not a requirement.
Once the frame starts the flight leader will lead his flight to ensure his mission is carried out with minimum risk to his pilots. He will need to make snap descisions. They will recieve intructions from on high but ultimately the fate of their flight is in their hands.
As of right now there arent any details. The event will be "Operation : Iceberg". The Us will attempt to take okinawa. The japaneese will defend the island.
Before you volunteer think it over. There will be both usn planes as well as USAAF planes avail for the allies. I am not sure of the exact planeset but I imagine f6fs f4us (f4u-4 and chog maybe).
IJN will most likely have the usual suspects, ki 61 niki a6m5 ki 67 etc.
