Aye,,,

nothing like Cape Breton fiddle music :D

I listen to alot of Celtic music, we are fortunate here in KC that many Celtic bands come to the area to play.

In the car I listen to the radio.  99.5 outta Fort Walton Beach mostly.  Their DJs make me laugh and they play new/classic rock.  Overplay some stuff of course, but for the most part it's ok.

For backup at the moment, I've got Danzig II in my CD player in the car.

At work...  I've got about 100 various CDs (all bought, thank you) ripped down to the computer.  mostly classic rock, some new rock too, some classical, some jazz, some movie sound tracks.

right now I'm listening to My Immortal by Evanescence (4th track on Fallen.)  It's my favorite song of their album.  strings, piano, bass and her vocals.  Beautiful song.  Definitely something I wouldn't think their "target audience" would go for, or at least admit they liked.  ;)

edit: Next song was Close to You off the Doors album.  ;)  The intro to it is hilarious.  "Tonight you're going to get a special treat...  no no, not that!"   lol

This is going back a ways, but my most favorite obscure song is "Out of My Head" by Fastball.  It is an easy listening, simple song that is just catchy.  Listen to it at least twice.  Their biggest hit was "The Way," which was also a good song.

I'm with a lot of others on this, Evanescence has a few good songs worth listening to.

Anyone here old enough to remember when all you needed if you wanted to listen to cutting edge rock&roll was one of those new fangled FM radios?

During the mid-late 60s and even into the mid 70's FM was like pirate radio. There were stations like KMET in LA that went out of their way to play the new or the obscure.

You probably need to be from So. Cal to understand, but I curse "The Wave" every time I hear it.

If your in front of a computer with highish speed internet access doing work and they'll let you listen to music have a look at http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/alt/ Check out John Peel. The Grandaddy of Radio1 plays some seriously weird **** that you will NEVER have heard of. The last weeks shows are all availible as streamed downloads (realplayer I think) The quality is suprisingly good. Live stuff from Glastonbury is up too including Radioheads amazing set.
