FR drops before a kill
« on: July 01, 2003, 01:04:53 PM »
Hi all,

When im playing AcesHigh for a while i sometimes get a low drop in frame rate right on the second i go for a kill.

It works fine for a while 10-20 minutes and then it starts. It only happens when im in range of a kill and start to fire.
If im not in killing range of someone i can fire all the ammo i have and it doesnt effect the frame rate in anyway.

Ive only recently noticed this happening and the only thing i can think of that i have upgraded is DirectX, i upgraded from 8.1a to 9 so im not sure if this could be the problem.

Specs:

- AMD Athlon 850mhz CPU
- 256 SDRAM
- GeForce4 4200 Ti  (64mb DDR)  40.72 drivers
- Via AC"97 intergrated sound

Any ideas would be appreciated, thanks.

Sounds like you need to decrease the hardware acceleration setting of your onboard sound a notch or two.

You may also need to run dxdiag and decrease the sound hardware acceleration a notch or two there too.

A better solution would be to buy an Audigy 2 and install it with just drivers.

AC*97 onboard sound often has glitches.  Best to disable it in BIOS and buy a sound card.
