Very angry and upset

Yesterday I log in to the main arena, to relieve a little stress.  I see that Tank town is not PORKED!   A little mind numbing destruction and hunting of other GVs, seems like a nice way to relieve it.  All goes well untill,(INSERT DRAMATIC REFRAIN HERE) I respawn at a camped spawnpoint.  Ok, go to other spawnpoint.

"KRRRR...RRR...RRR...KLANG..." XXXX shot you down.

Both spawnpoints CAMPED, more than likley the third as well.  Oh well nothing for it but to forge ahead, and maybe get lucky.  Each attempt makes me increasingly frustrated, and I see that it is the same guy  each time.  My frustration boils over to a,(Gasp, shock, horror) CH1 smackdown.

I make a disparaging remark about the skill level, and intelligence, of the individual in question, plus muse to everyone on CH1 if that is the only way this particular individual can earn his kills.  I expect the usual reply in kind back over CH1, we trade insults and get it out of our systems and go on.  Sadly this was not to be, because over VOX.

For a quarter hour I am forced to listen over VOX, (didn't remember the .squelch command, cause I've never had a need to use it before.)  Such vitriolic filth the likes of witch I have never heard before, and I was a sailor.  I loged in disgust.

Is this what AH has degenerated to? 15 year olds trashtalking Like they are on a Quake server.  What has this game I love come to?  I pay my $14.95 to play a game with a lot of other people.  Some Camp, some Vulch, some gangbang with the horde, that comes with the territory and I'm not knocking anybody for doing it.  I am not paying $14.95 to be verbaly assaulted by a teen that has to kiss his mother with such a mouth.

Notice the increasing number of dlambs, errr teens is on the rise.  I just ignore them or if they get under your skin switch sides and hunt them down  I have never hunted anyone before, but it was funny when on chan 1 last night a guy says your prob gonna come hunt me down.  I said no and left it at that.  Upped and sure enough first guy I killed was him lol.  Just ignore them and go to a different base solves problem.

HiTech once talked of making it possible for people to be able to vary their spawn points within a limited area.  This would give people a certain bit of time to get situated before being killed by campers.

Of course this was quite awhile back.  Maybe AH2 will finally deal with this but I wouldnt bank on it.  Not a real high priority I suspect.

Yeah on the kids playing the game,  it does make me uncomfortable sometimes but there are some decent younger folks playing the game and some real extrahunk adults as well.  Just have to deal with it I guess.

School is out and the kids can't get jobs.

For them, the choice is either play Aces High or hack a network.  I'd rather shoot them down in Aces High.

Oh yeah, about spawn campers:

depending on the distance and the number of campers, I've found that popping a lot of smoke and forcing them to move gives you a fighting chance.  Of course, you'll get killed 4 or 5 times while you pop smoke, but in the end you can eradicate them or at least level your chances.

Nothing of this nature gets solved on the BBS.

Your best bet is to contact AH and make a complaint in regards to the verbal thrashing.

Send them an E-mail or give 'em a call.

They always answer the phone and bend over backwards to help.

Even if nothing is done, you'll have the satisfaction of knowing it's on record with HTC and they'll know the name if another call comes in.

Also, AH bliss for me is the following steps:

Click Aces High Icon
Put on my flightsuit.
Inspect official MAW uniform in mirror.
Select arena
Type ".squelch 1"

Sounds like you fired the first shot. Had you contained yourself, it never would have digressed to the level that you describe.

You have got to be kidding me ... FORCED. A simple question on country channel would have gotten that question answered in maybe 5 seconds and another 5 seconds to type in the command, yet you chose to listen for 15 minutes.

I am not condoning the verbal abuse, nor the language that the individual used, but it sure looks like your to blame for your own problem.

How old are you ? By your own admission, you started the trash talking, so I wouldn't go as far as to hang the trash talking hat on the teenage population within AH ... from my experience, its the elder crowd that does the most trash talking.

but have no pity for you.  I have been on BOTH ends of that equation, and enjoyed it.

When I'm the camper, I like the shooting gallery.

When I'm the spawner, I like to figure out a way to get the camper dead.

I usually get it done.  For only 15.95, I can teach you how, too.

Never had to squelch anyone for being abusive, well, maybe once. Have had to do it for the opposite reason several times though. Some are just a little too verbose and/or loud in their commentary on the situation.

I used to squelch channel 1 on a regular basis.  You know, Tower-->Hangar--> vehicle --> start engine -->squelch 1.

Then I almost missed a rant by Steve and decided that I should keep the text box open in case somebody actually goes ballistic in an entertaining sort of way.
