Which "Joystick" Setup to get...
« on: July 03, 2003, 08:02:48 AM »
Hey all,

Getting ready to make a purchase of a new Stick, THrottle, and Rudder Combo.  ANyone have any input.  The one thing I would like is the availability of force feed back, as I have become accostomed to my that through my Forcefeedback 2 from MS.  Sadly, I had a great stick, rudder and throttle combo, but that came up missing when my ex and I parted ways.  Anyways,

any suggestions?  I think USB is the way to go for me too.

Thanks for the input.
I regret doing business with TD Computer Systems.

I've had great luck with X45 and USB CH Pro Peds in win98se

with Control Manager 2.0 from CH, I got it to work in XP also

get the 12 month replacement policy for $10 (CompUSA) when you purchase the X45 - mine last about 8 to 10 months then I "trade" them in for a new set while picking up another replacement policy for $10. :)

Done this for the last 3 years so three saiteks X45 combos in that time period have cost me less than $100

Still using same Pro Ped setup that entire time - knock on wood

edit: sounds like a good deal here:

I'll agree with Eagler:  If you want the best stick for the money, the Saitek rigs are hard to beat.  You really need to get some rudder pedals, too, however, because the rudder control on the throttle doesn't work well (for me anyway).  The ergonomics just are not quite right.

If you want to spend a little more and get a whole lot more stick, consider a CH Fighterstick/Pro Throttle/Pro Pedals combination.  The lot can be had for about $300 if you shop on-line, and you will find no more flexible (in terms of programmability) set-up on the market.

There is also the Cougar, but I would stay away from that unless you really know what you're getting into.  You can read the myriad threads on the subject on these and  other boards.
