America's use of credit cards had a big start on that of Britain. The main reasons would have included the fact that America has always been wary of checks (or cheques). I never saw the equivalent of a cheque guarantee card, and there was no central clearing bank of the kind we have in Britain. In the case of credit cards, the merchant bank is sort of the equivalent to what the central clearing bank is for cheques.

There are no longer guarantees for checks, european legislation canceled that a short time ago I think. Banks can't earn as much money as with credit cards, and they seem to have a strong lobbie.

If it's not the credit card issue, then why does the average american player suck more than the european one?

Credit card and debit card much used in Sweden, very much used actually, both Visa and other cards, American express aswell is very used.

As for the US average player haveing less skill, may very well be so. But like stated above, most Europeans flying AH and other online sims (that aren't very well known due to lack of marketing) are hard core simmers and have usually flown online sims for quite some time.

lol comon you can use credit cards all over Europe, its not that backward!, although i have to say when i visited america I never used my card so much in my life! I think America certainly use credit more for day to day living and Europeans accept credit cards as good but are still of the mindset of 'owning' their cash and money.They like to see it. Thats just residue from thousands of years of coinage in Europe. we really arent so different, its just a countries trends which influence how they use their money i think.
