Personally I'm having a blast with "Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl". While it may seem a game with a movie license, it is actually "Sea Dogs 2".

Give it a try, the water effects and sea battles are incredible.

Playin Pirates of the Caribbean myself too

Abit frustrating (i prefer Sea Dogs) but i am chugging along.

Changed things abit.. now have a female character instead of the default, and making some difficulty adjustments
