They use them as Q-Cars over here. Unmarked. Very effective, apparently. But alot of the police use the Volvo 850. Yes a Volvo. Although it is the turbocharged T5 version.

Well I'm screwed if you are bringing out turbos, at least on pavement. On snow or gravel you might be in trouble though. I'll bring a winch to help you out.

Yeah it's AWD, but it's optimized for pavement unlike the more sophisticated system in the WRX STi. Also Porsches run a bit low for gravel. WRX has much more suspension travel and ground clearance.
