The Republic of Land of apathy is a huge, safe nation, remarkable for its compulsory military service. Its hard-nosed population of 765 million enjoy extensive civil rights and enjoy a level social equality free of the usual accompanying government corruption.
There is no government in the normal sense the word; however, a small group of community-minded, socially-minded individuals juggles the competing demands of Commerce, Education, and the Environment. Income tax is unheard of. A powerhouse of a private sector is dominated by the Automobile Manufacturing industry.
The nation is ravaged by daily union strikes, Land of apathy's children are widely acknowledged as the most foul-mouthed in the region, tourists from around the world come to visit the country's famous rainforests, and political parties are banned from advertising and receiving private donations. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Land of apathy's national animal is the rino, which is also the nation's favorite main course, and its currency is the gold ounce.
