Assuming you think for yourself, does the fact that the article  came from that institute make it factually inaccurate or otherwise similarly suspect?

Hey!
I can barely spell in English.  Remember, I try to avoid vowels! Too confsing ya; know.  So, don't ask me to go Frenchie too!

That said, I think he was attempting to type a word that looks like it will sound when the properly spelled word is pronounced by those who speak that language properly.

Amurican (that's you MT) - Cressant (pronounced creh sent)
French - ( that'd be Froggie) Croissant (pronounced qwah sahnt)

And actually, Dictinoary.com says you are eating a Trademark MT,

Cres·cent    ( P )  Pronunciation Key  (krsnt)

A trademark for an adjustable open-end wrench.

so be sure to chew 100 times before you swallow!

And, anyway, I like bagels better! Yummm!:D

uh yeah.. I was making fun of the sometimes overused pronunciation-craze in marketing and in 'new' foods (I.E. same old foods with fancy sounding names)

last time I looked they were shaped like cresents (not sickles :))
and named Crescent rolls in America (by pillsbury, etc)
hehe.. qwah-sahn(silent t)  lol

damn, MT, stop being right!

because he is.  If NASA didn't have the tools to get the job done right (for whatever reason) why the hell did they send the damn things up in the first place?  If they knew the foam was 10 times more likely to fudge things up, why didn't they look into another alternative instead of continuing to send up the shuttles?  Same thing with the O-Ring putty.

Politics Nifty.  NASA is a government funded agency.  They have X amount of dollars to spend each year.  If they do not spend it, then they lose it.  Losing a chunk of funding if they do not launch, means less funding for research.
Chicken and egg kind of thing.

Also consider that NASA does not actually do the design work for the launchers.  That is bidded out to the cheapest contractor that can build something that meets the specifications, which NASA does have a hand in.
The contractor has to deliver by a certain date, or they lose money.  If the EPA tells the contractor they can't use something product, a week before a launcher is scheduled to be delivered,...guess what happens?

looks like people get put in jeopardy (not the fun version with Alex Trebek either) and sometimes die.  :(
