Didn't they add a character for the movie? Sawyer?

They changed it a lot.  First, they added Dorian Gray and Tom Sawyer.  Then they made Quartermain the leader when it was Mina Murray (aka Harker) in the comic.  My biggest disappointment in the movie was Hyde.  He was not nearly as profane and vulgar in the movie as he was in the comic.  Plus, he is also not as violent.  He was my favorite character in the book.  The second series, going on now, makes him even better.  It explains why Hyde is so big and Jekyl so small and frail.  Plus, it also introduces some other characters like Dr. Moreau.  The second series is kind of a War of the Worlds type thing.  Really cool story so far.

As far as Nemo, I thought he was an Indian.  You may want to check out this site as it goes into detail about the various references in the comic book as the movie barely touches them.

Back to the original topic before it degenerated into a comic book geek lovefest:

Just saw Pirates of the Carribeean tonight. Pretty good flick. Johnny Depp was really good in his role. Movie was a good blend of action and humor and the sappy love **** didn't distract from the overall film.

Saw it yesterday, I liked the movie a lot.

Capt. Sparrrow seemed like a blend of a pirate and Johnny's junky role in Fear and Loathing during one of his acid trips.

There were a few cheesy lines, but atleast there wasn't overused pirate slang.

And out of the 2hrs, 20 minutes of the movie - I think only about 10 minutes of it was the sappy love crap, and even then it was strewn throughout the movie so you only had to endure maybe a minute of it at a time.
