When my X45 is plugged in (USB) every once in awhile the lights on the controls blank out. I have no input during this time.

Flight Controls plugged into a Hurcules Game Theater XP.

Any ideas?

mine were dimming but I still seemed to have control

the jstick was always alittle stiff but put up with it for 10 months but the lights dimming bugged me so I used my 12 month replacement plan and grabbed a new one.

Took someones advice here and opened the three boxes they had in CompUSA and picked the smoothest one of the bunch. What a difference and no more light dimming. Picked up another 12 month replacement plan for $10 on this one too

I have been in there 2 times already on the 12 month replacement plan. Every 10-11 months, I head in & grab a new one (needed or not), repurchase the plan & repeat in less than a year. Have never had a problem with the stick.

Lovin' my X45 for sure. I would suggest maybe swapping something else to the Hercules and the X45 to the chassis USB port, or get a hub from the chassis port. Funny thing you will notice with a hub though.... if it is a self-powered hub, the lights all go off for a sec when the computer powers down, but then come back on and stay on due to the constant power to the hub. It makes for a pretty spacy display at night in the bedroom... (hmmm, does this qualify me for the mile high club?

Good Idea, but I only have two USB connections on my motherboard. My problem started happening when I was disconnecting the rudders to hook up my Real Flight G2 R/C transmit box.

I now lose flight control input intermittently when I fly. Rudder loss is at 35 to 50%.

Very iritating!!

Skorp, would additional USB connections from a hub be more stable than the GTXP?

dunno about the gtxp but I had to go get a usb powered hub for my usb conns as the port on the mb seemed flaky - no problems since the belkin powered hub

Dunno for sure, but my guess would be that it is in the Hercules port. You can get a self-powered 4 or 6 port hub that plugs in to one of your on board usb ports for 20-30 bucks, for usb 1.1, or a bit higher for usb 2.0. They are the only way to go, especially if you only have 2 ports on the machine itself. I would say you might wanna test my theory about it being with the Hercules by switching your stick setup to the onboard port, and putting whatever is in an onboard port in the Hercules port. If you have the same problem, then it could be the usb controller on the motherboard itself (?). If plugging the stick directly in to the machine, bypassing the soundcard extension setup, fixes the problem, then a hub would most assuredly be your solution. Hope ya figure it out.
