will tod have friendly collision modelled?
« on: July 15, 2003, 09:22:46 PM »
it would be nice if this was modelled full time in tod and the way aircraft spawned for missions was changed to spawning next to eachother in a staging area instead of in the same spot.

this would add much realism and people would have to be more mindful of formation flying and tactics.
Fester was my in game name until September 2013

This could be avoided by spawning the planes side-by-side on the apron, like in IL2/FB.

The Finns always fly in formation (well, a semi-organized flock) and I really haven't found this a problem.  I don't remember the last time that I had flown "through" someone, or vice versa.  The smoothing code in AH is really good.  In IL2/FB the lag/warping is much worse and friendly collisions aren't a problem there.

we mostly  /allways is to big word;)/ fly formation, pairs , vics, 4 fingers. But thats not mean we can avoid colision all the time.
What would u say guy who was ramed from behinde by not his foult? Penatialize for somone misbehavoiour? Collision off can work same like killshoter off on MA and thats bad.
Till your health /RL/ not depends form somone ram u in game i say no.

if( wheels = 0agl !! gear = deployed){
collision = false
}else{ collision = true }

I know . . . . easier said than done, atleast it's another suggestion though instead of an unsupported whine/complaint :D

No thanks! 412th flies formations all the time, and have had a few occasions where warps and lags would have caused collisions.

As much as I would like to see stuff like friendly collisions on and kill shooter off, the online nature of the game makes that a potential for abuse or just ruining the fun for those really trying to fly good formations.

The same things cause enemy collisions. Still you can collide with the enemy in case of warp, lag or packet loss.

Why not friendly, too?

Sorry I've been in a snapshot with collisions on.

Had to call launch's person by person, circle the field while everyone gets up.

Just as everyone is forming up someone got a smidge to close to me & down I went.

I'll pass on friendly collisions.

cuz i not trust enemy and watch them with extremly caution
noone of simulatino game can give u same feeling of distance like in RL. Delay in data transmision not give u chance to react so fast as in RL or in host on lan play.

Cuz noone can guarantie every player walking rules and care about his virtual life. We have many newbies without skills and knowlage about game. Normal noone let them fly without basic traning. How can u tell somone who not care, not pay and not care about score or good name fly thrue rules?
I pay for game and not wish to be ramed by any newbie flying my side. I pay for game and not like somone who ruine my game by his bad behaviour.

Som of us like to fly on hardcore settings, how u explain all this dweebs on MA they should wait in trial for take off?

It's not a matter of lag, it's not a matter of trusting friends or foes. What it comes down to is everyone is acustomed to flying with friendly collisions off, so we all fly a certain way knowing no harm will come to us if we touch a friendly.
If friendly collisions were turned on.....there would be some complaining...WHaaaaa I QUIT!!! he HIT me!!!...so on and so forth, the usual suspects would threaten to cancel accounts ( go on I dare ya ). After some break-in time giving everyone some time to adjust it may actually improve gameplay. It might actually  *gasp* reduce some elements of gangbanging where the nme's are flying through each other to get a shot. You might actually see some pilots fly a bit more *gasp* cautiously in those gangbangs. OMG RUN FOR THE HILLS ....I FEAR CHANGE!!!!!

:D LONG LIVE THE GANGBANGS....KEEP FRIENDLY COLLISIONS OFF!!!:p
