If someone could not paint an entire F-16 with 2 gallons of paint, they have a serious problem to begin with..> in a controlled environment like a large booth, I bet I can do it with one. Total weight.... about 12 pounds....
600 pounds is BS.

I bet you can't.
The modern grays have some "stealth" elements to them in that they are supposed to change color a bit depending on the light. I'm not sure what that does to the paint and its weight, but it's not your typical Dutch Boy semi-gloss you paint your door with. Plus, especially with the USN, the paint provides some corrosion control and they really slop that stuff on thick and in layers. It does add weight and as to how much, I have no clue. USN does their maintenance here at Coronado if anyone wants to call them up.

If it adds 600 lbs, then the the F-16 must look completely different under the foot or so of paint.
There's slopping on the paint, and then there's candle-making.

Ok, let's inject some numbers here. The C-5 galaxy has 2,600 lbs of paint & primer. It has 20x more wing area, and who knows how much more fuselage area. Why would it only have 4x as much paint as an F-16? C'mon, let's see some more data.

Admitedly it might seem a bit exceptional.

However I was told by a person who worked on the planes in Arizona around '93. If this is true or an exaggeration I do know know. Was this the time of Lead paint? Do Supersonic craft require special grade paint?
The only real way to find out I guess would be to call up an airbase and ask. Tell them your name is ahmeed and your just curious...

Don't forget to ask if they offer flying lessons, and if you can get a discount if they just teach you to take off.

lets see multiply 7.9 lbs per gallon x the est . 80 gals of paint = 632 lbs of paint you may have to subtract a little for evaperation
But thats about how much paint goes on a plane the size of a B-17. (note some paints weigh more or less)
as the plane gets older even more paint goes on it .(ive worked on the old HH-53's that must of had over 40 layers of paint on them.
And yes they have many different types of paint for aircraft.
