I think this is actually a  reasonable request. why the 'lol'?

AH at present is not easy to make skins with.
the texture tile is in no way easy to work on for those of us new to skinning.

If HTC indeed want this new addition to be for EVERYONE then they need to simplify the process of skinning.

If we were to have a real easy plain white skin template(WITH A TRANSFER of the various panels and rivets etc that can be layed over the coloured model) maybe some country markings and roundals etc to use, pre made.

you then have a VERY easy skinnable model. Before you know it there will be hundreds of usable skins and a few hundred inappropriate types submitted, I for one would make several 190 skins if i had a decent template. As ive already tried to make skins for the present model and failed to make it properly I was put of trying it again.
I spent hours getting the texture tile right.A historical skin for the 190a8 sturmjeager squadrons. only to find when it was put on the aircraft, in the game, it was slightly off centre and so appeared completely wrong. Wasted all my time and was very dissapointed by it.
Also some aircraft I wanted to try to skin for i couldnt even find the texture plate for. (i.e. the 110g2)

I for one agree with this request. I wonder estes , have you made skins? you find it easy i guess?

Considering they problem haven't even programmed in the feature for the custom skins, maybe it's a bit premature to ask?

No hazed, never made skins.  Just seems like a bunch of trouble, I may be wrong but didn't I see something about sending skins into HTC and getting them available to download or something similar for AHII?  If someone is that interested in making skins, why not learn to do it the way everyone else does.

One of the things that is almost always different about player submitted skins is where the panels, rivets, hinges, lines, etc. end up being displayed. Some do the lines very well, while others just make a big mess.

It would be real nice to have what has been suggested here, a blank layout with a panel/rivet overlay that could be dropped in place after the paintwork has been completed.

They aren't that hard to make Midnight. As noted earlier in this thread I already have half a dozen or so complete from making a few skins during the early part of this year. All that is needed is a graphics package able to open multi layer images in photoshop format. I found almost every other part of making a skin harder than doing panel lines though.

Assuming the 3D model and texture assignments stay the same in AHII for the models I have done they should be fine as I made all my skins in high res and then scaled down for use.

Hey gatso, you mentioned multi-layer images.....do you have a Linux box? If so I'd suggest using "The Gimp" but if you do have a linux box then you probably already know about The Gimp.
What image program(s) do you use for skins?

Look i wasnt trying to be rude or anything but what a bunch of horse manure!

The whole point of developing a FEATURE in a game is to make it accessable for EVERYONE. If you dont then the feature isnt worth advertising as only 5% of your playerbase would use it. Why else would all the major Games developers develop beyond machine code for their level editors and mod tools???
The point is the more accessable a peice of software is the more interest is shown in it and the MORE mods and skins they make. For AH that means the more players find it simple to use a skin editor the more skins you can choose from when they all come flooding in.
What pisses me off about a certain type of poster on this BB lately is anyone with a suggestion , and a completely fair one, is jumped on for either asking too much of HTC?  Its a damn REQUEST! its not an order! or wanting their cake and eating it!.
Well I dont want to state the obvious here but THATS WHY WE PLAY GAMES! The idea is a pleasurable pass time we ENJOY using!!
I dont know about you but im not here to feel like im at work.

The film editor was introduced for those that want to try their hands at film making
The film veiwer for those that like to reveiw what they do
The map editor for map makers
The skin editor for skin makers?

Perhaps that is HTC's intention? They try to make these editors easy to use because they WANT their customers to have a USEFUL TOOL to help them add their own ideas or time to the game. You tell me where in all of these introduced editors did HTC say 'we wont make it TOO easy or theres no hard work for you all, and we cant have you enjoying yourselves in here' ??

IF htc finds the time to make a few templates I and i think some others would very much appreciate it. We arent demanding anything so I fail to see why anyone needs to come in here and demand we stop asking for anything. It may well be too early for them but then again it might be exactly what HTC are working on today.(how would you know ack-ack? )

stop jumping on people who are merely excited at the prospect of making skins, showing their enthusiasm by posting right away some requests to make things easier.
I have tried skinning. Really enjoyed it but personally I found it took too much time to get it perfect. If time can be saved id start skinning again and from my experience a template saves a lot of time.

you have the floor..........

edit: Midnight. :) its like pulling teeth isnt it? :D

Hazed u whiner

cant u just wait as we do?

your tool for skin editing is paint shop pro or photoshop, that all what do u need!!! Paint shop pro is free, for Photoshop i was pay 700$. On net u can find many other bitmap editors free and not free. Your choice what u buy/take.

And thats all what do u need for skin editing.

For templates u just must wait when somone who have skills done it.
For markings, profiles u can search net even by google and take look how other do this. Many sites is about skining for il2 and CFS

sorry buddy but your whine piss me a bit, u requast for something u allready have.

Just sit and wait

Hazed, I have a funny feeling you don't know what your talking about. Skin/Texture creation is hard, takes a lot of time and absolutely 100% requires reasonably complex graphics software. Nothing HTC can do to change that. Tough poop.

(PSP isn't free btw Ramzey, 30day trial and then something like $100-$60, lots cheaper than photoshop)
