those are Seafires.

different plane all together, and show up so in the stats as a Seafire.
I don't know what to put here yet.

Interesting theories, but perhaps it's due more to the relatively new RAF 71 "Eagle" Squadron (at 30+ members) flying it as their main ride. :)

No reason to fly the 9 when the 5 turns so well and can damn near accelerate with a 190D9 in a dive...

There is plenty of reason to fly the Spit 9, it is just most people don't take the time to learn how to fly it as an energy fighter.  It is an outstanding energy fighter, it accelerates very well, climbs very well, has great low speed handling, and it can turn very well when you need to.  It is an outstandingly well-balanced plane.  However, in a strict "turn fight" a Spit 5 has the advantage.

Did Pyro sneak in an LFVc instead of an FVc Spit?  It sure seems like it moves a lot better down low and it does feel better to fly the Spit V over the Spit IX at this point

Not for me.  The N1K2 is one of my favorite planes to kill.

IIRC, the Seafire is the naval variant of the Spitfire V.

spits are very fragile
a few hits mostly is enough to kill it

something is really missing compared to a p38 they are just low budget planes.

i thought i heard they are different in their FM / speed, climb charts and stuff, but it doesn't matter....

i know that the stats are compiled seperatly, so if people are flying them more, it would not show up in the spit V stats like the topic of this thread. and i was only pointing out a discrepency in Zanth's post.
I don't know what to put here yet.

Yep, navalized Spit V.  But because it was navalized it was heavier by a bit, so it shouldn't quite match up to Spit V performance.
