Iran, should we let them?
« on: July 19, 2003, 07:31:04 AM »
Iran says they need Nuclear power for energy, despite the fact that they are sitting on some of the largest oil reserves in the world. Iran says nuclear power will only be used for peacful purposes.

Flash back to North Korea. Korea says it needs a nuclear reactor to generate power and will only use it for peaceful uses. Now N. Korea is telling us they are building nuclear weapons and threatening nuclear holocaust.

Does anyone believe that Iran has such a lack of energy that they need a nuclear plant? Should the world allow Iran to develope a nuclear plant?

Who are we to tell them they can't? You can't go around the world telling people what they can and can't do, that will wear thin real quick.

Well Pakistan is a Muslim nation who already have nukes - going to invade them as well?

Perhaps it would be quicker and easier if you could just list who you're NOT going to invade over the next 2 year period?

If that's the basis on which invasion is going to be decided better get the draft going real soon - going to be a busy couple of years.

Always wondered why Americans allow Israel to yank their chain so much - Israel spied on you, killed your sailors, stole secrets from you, perhaps even stole from your reactors if one is to beleive some stories, you pay for their army, support their economy which would collapse without you and you fight their wars for them - damn fine deal if you ask me.

This is a clear example of why a country will adopt a preemptive strike policy.

I'm curious...why do you think our foreign policy should be tied to the protection of Israel?

IIRC There are basically two types of nuclear fuel for powerplants. High grade enriched uranium (which can be used for weapons) or low grade enriched uranium (which cannot be used for weapons).
As long as the Iranians get only the low grade type of fuel, no biggie.

I think the question should be, where are they going to put all the spent fuel?
