Anyone use Nero for burning audio cds?
« on: July 20, 2003, 01:15:12 AM »
I am having loads of trouble and I don't know whether my prob is a software or hardware issue.  The cd's I burn can be played on my comp (my burner is my only cd drive), but cannot be recognized in cd players (including one I have that was made to play burned discs.)  Anyone else run into this?  I'm hoping for a simple slap my forehead solution.  :)

Are you burning mp3's or burning an existing disc?  If your burning mp3s to listen in a home player you have to select audio cd.

...and make sure you are using CD-R's and NOT CD-RW's.

Had same prob. try a differant brand of CD-R, also make sure the cd player is not to pld the older ones seem to have problems with CD-R's, dont know why. The CD in my boat wont play all my CD-R's but the home CD will.

I don't think its NERO in any case, luck.

Yeah, I tried different brands of cdr.  Also just bought a player that specifically supports cdrs, so, unfortunately that ain't it.  Thanks for the suggestions though.

Are you computer-saavy enough to look at the files on the disk and tell if they're actually cd audio and not mp3?  Selecting Audio CD should do it, but since they aren't working it's worth checking if you haven't already.  Next step would be to remove and re-install Nero...uninstall it, delete the directory it was in and start from scratch.  Maybe you inadvertantly adjusted some settings on burning redbook audio files.

not sure about nero, but most software gives you the option of 'closing' the disc or leaving it 'open' so you can add more files later.  most players wether they play mp3's or audio must have 'closed' discs.  all my players are that way (dvd, car stereo, boombox, disc man.  all play mp3's or audio and all must have closed disc to play)

I had the same thing with Nero.  Things I discovered (some already mentioned)

Some older cd players won't play CD-RW.
Some older players won't play any cd-r
Some players require the cd to be "closed"

I'm able to create a cd that is playable in most players by using a higher quality cd-r, and closing the cd.

I had the same problem... I think it was the CD, because I've since been using Memorex music CDs and they work fine.

Yeah, that was the first cd type I tried.  I'm beginning to think that the problem is hardware or maybe there's something in windows that's not recognizing the recorder correctly.  I don't think its nero anymore, because I tried to burn a disc with WMP and had the same results.

These old drives aren't multi-read capable and this is why it fails.

Try installing an ASPI manager see if that works
