ah... I see frenchy has discovered the wonderful world of torque and big blocks in his 455... It is addicting.
Put a six speed behind that 455 and hotchkiss suspension... bilstein shocks... Baer brakes... that is my next mod... even with the kevlar shoes and pads on the elky it doesn't stop any better than a stock BMW.. I want to put the baer 2 piston front discs and the baer single piston rears on but.... about $2,000.
Nothing says that muscle cars can't stop and handle well. A good job should run in the 12's with no problem... stop in around 100' at 60 and be within about 5% of the lap times of a BMW m3 say, on a tight course.. 200mph is not out of the question for a big block with tall gears and a six speed naturaly aspirated. they do it in Nevada "run what ya brung" races all the time...
Downside... 8-14 mpg..... the shoebox will never feel as stable at high speed as a slippery car... you know you are going fast when you do over 130 or so in one.. Money... you can spend a lot. Insurance.. hard to get coverage for theft and such.. Attention... if you don't like talking to people, don't get a muscle car... If you don't like total strangers waving and smiling at yu all the time get a new car.. Don't expect to not learn about cars and own a muscle car..
