Kill markings
« on: July 20, 2003, 04:10:26 AM »
How, when we getting custom skins, may be it is a good idea to make also a visible kill markings. Though they will be hardly visible in game during fight, they shall look amazing at the planes for screenshots and films, and will be a very nice immersion moment for AH2: TOD.

Just put correct signs ( stars, crosses, vertical columns ) at correct places ( side of plane, tail of plane ). When there are too many of kills, add 50, 100, 150, 200, 250 etc. and markings.

Shall be one dinamicly pre-flight generated texture, I am sure it is not hard to code, and one textured poly will not put much more stress to the video card.

Even though I doubt this would ever be an option HT allows, it would probably make more sense to make the kill markings historically correct for each plane (the correct adversary markings for the theater the plane flies in - perhaps you were alluding to that). And much more practical to limit the kill/victory markings to the highest number in one sortie (buffer text brag message). No need for the 50, 100, 250, 1000 mark (unless, of course, someone manages to get 1000 kills ... in that type of plane ... without dying.

But ... I'd also like to see it as an offline viewing option only. There's no need for that tidbit of data to be added to the bits running on my front end while online.

What, like some fat beer guzzling guy's profile on my nice plane?  Thanks no.
