I agree Ripsnort.
No personal attacks.
No attacks on groups of people
No attacks on HTC
No attacks on Nationalities in game or other wise.

When those rules are broken and someone attacks you..what is the drill?

The problem here is the lack of proper moderation.  You can't run a proper bbs without at least policing your boards.

Ripsnort, you should never have to ask the guys to smarten up.  It's HTC fault the reason these boards are vicious because they let the community have at it.

Generally the boards police themselves but you do need a presence that hovers over and acts as a 'moderator'.

I've done it before and it's a no brainer task. All is needed is for someone to step in and move conversations to the O-Club or ask them to take it off line.  Same goes for certain discussion threads. Some topics discussed in the general section should be moved to Aircraft or Gameplay etc.

It's time for HTC to appoint a moderator.

i think someone suggested this 6 months ago and pyro said they didn't believe in moderators here or on-line.  something bout putting people between them and the players.  let's not start that wasted thread all over again.

for what it's worth vruth, you're dead on.  should have happened a year ago.

hard to believe they watch this daily fiasco and do nothing.

at least let someone else help the community out with this crap.

All I ask is this: Let us police ourselves.  Lets agree to disagree.  Lets all have our own opinion.  Lets all have our own 'attitude'.  Lets not depend on HTC to 'monitor' this board. Let us police ourselves and by doing so, lead by example.

In a perfect utopian society where everyone is kissy kissy, sure. But lets face it. The boards are their own worse enemy. While the visible minority are not the invisible majority, the squeaky wheel does get the grease.

That minority likes to hide behind their keyboards. They take cheap shots and then are not held accountable. It makes the boards very unpleasant and it turns off a lot of people from getting involved in discussions.

What we need is a mature moderator, someone who reads the boards, then when needed, steps in an politely ask the gents to smarten up or move topics to the appropriate places.  Better still, knowing that the moderator is there is a deterrent.

I would like to petition HTC for a moderator.  Use the community members who are respected to moderate the boards.

Arrogance? Elitism?

Who said the two catch words describing 9./JG 54 "Grünherz"?

You feebleminded descendants of pregnant hermaphroditic hippo allied farmboys may want to be meek and wallow in your own pit of misery; but do not ask US, far superior to you, to do the same.

If a dog eats his own manure, does a human mimic it? I think not.

If it weren't for those pathetic carbon based life forms, there'd be few to kill. Like toilet paper, they serve a purpose.

Have to agree that you confuse me a lot. Sometimes I think you are a ******* and a ****** (censored  ) and others I think you are a decent guy.

In any case and if you want to solve some of our differences, remember that you got my email.

In the meantime <S> for this post. I had lost the sense of that part, and had understood it completely different.

I do not at all understand how the conduct of persons on this forum could effect my decision to play or not play Aces High.

I pay to play AH because it best suits my hobby requirements at the present time not because of what is or is not posted on this BB.

The tendency of many to have their concept of how things should be run imposed on the entire group is repugnant to me.

The "Appointment" of monitors to "Barneyize" this BB is ridiculous.

I would expect HTC to step in here if and when conduct of posters warrant.

'Join me in a positive thread' and pledges to refrain from being nasty?

I don't think things are that bad - for the most part things are good natured and certain subjects will always become a bit personal, no matter how many people pledge not to be 'bad' again. Those that have difficulty handling not being the centre of attention will always be around, but they are fortunately in the minority.

We are all guilty of resorting to personal attacks and it's good of you to admit that yourself, Ripsnort.

I think most people don't go out of their way to be offensive, and usually regret it when they do so, so what exactly is the point of this thread?

A friend of mine absolutely refuses to play AH because of the attitudes displayed here.  He likes the game, but reads the boards and is instantly turned off.  He figures "Why spend 30 bucks and fly with a group of elitist A-holes, when I can spend 10 and have fun in FA".

These boards DO drive people away.  The only question is how many.

What a bunch of bullsh*t.....

Elitists?  yeah right.  There is not a more diverse group of people online simming than here.  To say we are proud of the product is accurate.  To say that we are driving away customers with our elitism is nonesensical.

People are driven away for ALL SORTS of reasons.  Lack of skill, lack of testicular fortitude, lack of genuine sense of self.  Its easiest just to say that *mommy, I couldnt hack AH because (cough) they are a bunch of meanies....LMOA

People are attracted to AH for ALL SORTS of reasons.  Best online sim of 2001 is just one reason.

Some of you guys wear dresses and bras and watch soaps in the afternoon, thats all I can figure.
