I've read *another* BBS (no not AGW) about the 'attitude' that is a generalization, and have received an email from an ex-flyer that generally states that this BBS is showing signs of "Elitism", "Arrogance", and rude behavior that has turned off at least two potential customers to AH.

Now granted, all three behavior problems are ALWAYS going to be part of an online flight sim.  The first two are usually inherent of a fighter pilot in general.  But to post that on a public BBS only makes the sim look that much more unpleasant.

I know its only two instances, but 2 instances can easily be magnified by 200 over time.

So, I ask you fellow posters, knock the crap off.  Let's post about the flight sim, not personal attacks.  Sure, I've said myself here on the BBS that I thought someone was full of B.S., and I didn't feel good about it either.  I think we all have a tendancy to call a spade a spade, but I truly believe that some of our opinions of each other are to be left unsaid.

Join me by posting on this thread that you will try to refrain from personal attacks, and stick to the subject at hand, Aces High Flight Simulation.  All others who feel they have a first amendment right to post what they feel can take a hike, this thread is not interested in your personal attacks.

<S> to those who 'stick to the subject at hand'.

I agree.

But I dont think you are the best one to post this here, remembering certain attitudes you had in this BBS. It will be interesting how many cynical attitudes will we see here coming from wich people.

In any case, I think about the forums and the Online game as different things. This board is VERY hostile continuously. Online is not bad, at all. At least when I?m online ,apart of certain happenings, 90% of the time this is a very friendly community.
not so in the boards.

IMHO, of course.

Ram, I could care less about someones attitude, its the personal attacks that drive folks away.  Read the post above again about my personal attacks.

Also,  might add, that the BBS is usually the first thing a potential customer will see prior to loggin on, not always, but in alot of cases.  By making that a pleasant experience, ie. no personal attack messages, he may actually want to try the sim due to the positive subject matter.  Thats all.

some good points rip.     S!

but, a lot of this noise comes from just a few characters who live on here posting their lives away.

they seem to want to control everyone's threads and repeat this obession over and over again.

no wonder outsiders get a distorted view of the majority of great people on here.

there are more subtle ways to hurt an on-line community than just behaving like nate and towd.

I have allways tried to avoid this situation. When jokeing allways put in smileys. Some new post I wont even read because of the person who wrote it to begin with.

Rip,
I have to agree with you.  I came from FA where flaming was an art.  What we have over here is down right personal attacks.  Over there most was done in jest or joking.  Here it is rather serious.  I went back to their Newsgroup wnad was astonished at how much has changed.  They are IMO one of the best NG's out there.  They are all dedicated to their sim, yet you rarely see posts stating well were better then you kinda crap.  I have said it before, the community makes the game, IMO they have the best one out there.  That is why I stuck with it so long.

I am also going back, this game has become the same run of the mill as any other sim.  There are some gleaming issues that need fixed that never will be.  I have started a few flame wars    My last couple were in total fun, I just wanted to see responses.  What I saw was exactly what I predicted.  BBS's need to be moderated a little more heavily then they are now.  I hope the crap will stop, but I seriously doubt it.  Good luck.

I have a lot of respect for most of the people in AH, and you rate way up there Rip. I hereby pledge to refrain from all sorts of personal attakcs and non-objective discussions, unless in good humour.

Corn aside, I think the BBS could use some more manners.

Ripsnort, u are 100% correct, I am on a break from flying but i am still reading the BBS to keep up on stuff,This is not a user friendly BBS in fact i would say in general it is very hostile, or negative,The aircraft and vehicles section is not so bad as general discussion is but still it is amassing that this is tolerated by HTC. My old sim FA 2 (which sucks btw)had a very friendly BBS environment, the reason for this I think is that despite their being more people MSN monitored it better, the in flight radio was also monitored better, big brother was always watching. We are all basically big kids if left to our own we will get out of hand.

Totally forgot about that brady.  They had people "volunteers" that would monitor in game chat, in the NG it was also monitored rather heavily.  I do thank FA for it gave me cheap entertainment and I met a lot of wonderful people.  Even the old NG using the Newsgroup has gotten better where flaming was 1st and foremost a requirement.  Now you see posts on Aircraft, or excellent matches.  Things you rarely see in here.  I amo not innocent by far.  But will curb my activities as well for the bettering of a community in need.

I agree, personal attacking on the BBS is BS. I don't understand how anyone can attack someone they never met before. If you really think about it,its silly, and pointless. It just disturbs the whole community and then someone gets hunted for a month. It isn't worth it.     Can't we all just get along

Actually I've been thinking that the boards been a lot better the last couple weeks.

<S> to Rip for doing his part. Now if we can all follow his lead?

Disagree with someone all you want, but stick to the facts. Lets not get personal just to prove a point.
