I Hate Roger Wilco
« on: May 15, 2001, 03:45:00 AM »
Tonight while rtb'ing in the Arado that I finally earned enough points to fly again, I decided to dive down at cockpit-shaking speeds and buzz the field.  Naturally, shortly after I start the dive, Roger Wilco decides it's time to connect to some IP address.  Being unable to do so, it locks my FE for 3-4 seconds.

I'm fairly certain that in that 3-4 seconds I broke the world record for stream of obsenities.  After the lockup subsided, I was presented with an Arado without elevators.  I tried to land it, but hey, it's me!

Bye bye perk points, I will miss you.  I think I'm going to go smack Animal around now to make myself feel better.

What a whiner. why don't you vent your rants anywhere else?

J/k <g> Heheh I feel your pain, SOB, out of 4 TA152s I've lost, only one was lost in combat...

One was because a 1.1K hit from a P38, other was because the wing broke in a 5G pullout at 380mph IAS, and the last was because I broke the damned gear while landing and my plane ditched out of the runway   ...all of those things sucked

Thankfully I've not lost none because disco...yet

If enemy plane is 1100 yards from your plane and firing at you I think it is classified as combat.

I gave up on AH/RW channel for the moment, having a dedicated server works much better... no more IP Switching, nasty freezed and wingless landings.... err wait a minut, keep the wingless landings

It is not the RW that switches automatically... it is the way AcesHigh uses RW !!!!!

If you disable RW from AH menus and use it independently, such never happens. I never let AH manage my RW. (Actually RW has not worked through AH since November or so for me.)

Actually it's more to do with how users break there settings.

IF you have Aces High set to allow Roger Wilco hosting and you don't have it running it can cause all sorts of problems for other people when they try to connect to something that isn't there...

Aces High seems to be fairly insistent on starting RW on startup. I've told it not to, begged it not to, so in the end I decided just to disable it since I tend to use GameVoice more anyway since I bought the hardware =)

What're you guys jawing about ?!?!?!

Ok.. I admit it.  RW bites.  For me it's the switch to desktop thing.. always happens when I'm in combat or landing.. or...
whenever I really can't afford to miss a few seconds of visual...

A few       &@*#&$*@&$#!@!    and all feels better.

Haven't lost a perk plane that way... yet...

Oh My goodness, I know this situation all to well!! It happens to me when whoever happened to be hosting our channel either logs out..or discoes, and If I am really fortunate I am just cruising. But invariably I am in a heated dogfight, or like you in a dive, or whatever combat manuever ( or landing on final )
