H2H ammo and and fuel settings
« on: July 22, 2003, 04:53:13 PM »
Just like in Combat flight simulator 2, you can only set ammo and fuel between normal (realistic) and unlimited. This is like second to none. Can we have this feature in H2H?

We already actually do have this feature, it's just a matter of setting the ammo multiplyer to 100000.000 or some really high number.  It's unlimited when it says OOD for the ammo amount.

What do you mean normal and realistic?

There is only one mode in AH and that is supposed to be realistic. Using a fuel multiplier to prevent flying endlessly still gives you a unique fuel duration for each aircraft while giving reasonable flight time.

Do you realize by giving everyone unlimited flight time you are actually hurting the flight performance of long range fighters?

A P-47 carries over 300 gallons of fuel weighting almost 2,000lbs and an La-7 carries 122 gallons weighting about 700lbs. Giving them equal flight duration while carrying 3 times the fuel is like taking off while towing a compact car. The same applies to ammo. The F4U carries as much weight in ammo than the La-7 does in fuel. The la-7 was a take off, blow your load and land airplane. If you want to fly it for a hour then the weight of the fuel should be modeled on the airplane. You probably couldn't get it off the ground with the fuel and ammo of a P-47.

I'll be happy to go with your idea if all planes fly at there empty weight. But then it would be just like FA and CFS wouldn't it?

"What do you mean normal and realistic? "

I think he means  "...H2H and realistic"   "Normal" to him is the arcade settings found in most H2H hosts.

IMO, if there ares no new aircraft or vehicles coming to us in the early days of AH II then I certainly hope that no time or any effort was wasted on settings or features usable only, or mainly,  by H2H players.

lol only host Teams with stock fuel and ammo + short range icons. what im trying to say is if HTC would remove the ammo/fuel multiplier for H2H and replace it with either "normal" and "unlimited" only tweaks for the arena settings. Heck, 90% of CFS2 pilots fly "100%" realistic settings.

What? You host an FFA with 2x ammo, not normal.  And you were asking for only two settings, normal (main arena settings) and unlimited (ammo and fuel).

The 163 has the same fuel burn regardless of arena settings.
