<S> Cobra. Sorry bout yesterday. Allow me to explain.......
I have a nasty habit of ripping the wings of Tempests. 8 times I've done it so far.....lost a lotta perkies. Hence I'm saving for a new one......which means I'm trying to avoid flying the Hog C for attack sorties......ack seems to be magnetically attracted to my tail in the Hog C.
Anyway, I wanted to do an attack sortie.....and wanted loads of ammo (cannon ammo, not poxy .50cal) so I armed an N1K2 with 250KG bombs and set off for A53.
Then I saw you.
190D9 at about 11k. Me in N1K2 at 13.5k at 300TAS. Ok, so I dumped the eggs.
Now I havnt flown the N1k in a while......and all I read lately on here is how the N1K does these awesome E retaining manouvers so I figured I'd try one and see what the fuss was about.
ok, so the Dora (Cobra) climbs a little, goes under me at D 0.8, well I'll be damned if that little N1K didnt turn on a dime (blackout turn) and start catching this Dora in a zoom climb. Cobra puts the Dora directly nose down to get the shreck outta Dodge, the N1k then out dives (!) the dora, simple zero G shot to kill it.
I was in mid type on channel 1.....was about to say "<S> Cobra, it's the plane, not me." when Cobra types "ok Swoop, now I got a N1k" so I just smiled instead, thoroughly looking forward to a knife fight with a competant pilot (this was within sight of 53).
Then I spotted a B26 low, dunno what he was doing but Cobra was still taking off (note all ack was down and I didnt vulch

). I made a pass from 12oc hi, had to push the nose down to score any hits......had to pull up hard to avoid hitting the B26......pull up was maybe 9G for 1/4 of a second......ripped both wingtips off. Oops.
Then RTBed using rudder to steer and bailed over a friendly field.....with Cobra chasing just out of icon range.
Sorry Cobra, I was really looking forward to that knife fight.
