My buddy has one and he thinks the power steering pump is going cause its making a funny noise..... He says its low on fluid, and I think thats prolly all it is.

How hard is it to change one? I could do it on the GTO in about a half hour but I havn't delt with Fords much.

I dunno.. I've never heard a quiet PS pump from ford.. Best thing.. add the proper fluid. And inspect for leaks. May be a defective compression fitting.

Ugh.  If you have to touch a Ford remember to use condoms.

LOL I know it!!

I have never forgiven ford for 2 stupid things!

86 F150. Doing a brake job.The sweet brakes calipers are held on by sheet metal pins, lol, and it gets better, you have to beat them out from inside the wheel well, cause the hard brake line blocks the pin if you go the other way....

84 5.0 tbird. Go to change the oil, and only get a quart out, lol the sweet thing had TWO drain plugs?!?!Q?!?! WHAT THE HELL!!

Ford PS pumps are the worst.  They have very soft bushings on the pump itself so they wear very fast and create alot of heat. Especially if you dont use Type F automatic transmission fluid in the resevoir.  Id get your friend to ditch the stock pump and go for one of the GM (lazs help me here with the name) pumps.

There should be no problem changing the belt to the smaller pulley used on the GM pump and the bracket change should be simple too.

Hey GTORA2, I had a '65 GTO back in high school (graduated in '86) that was turquoise on green.  It looked better than that sounds but man was it a sweet ride.  Not an hour after buying it and driving to school I had 2 chicks want a ride in it.  Man, that car was a magnet for girls....*sighs
