As a Lonewolf, it doesnt make it easy.  Especially when 3/4 of the friendlies in the sector were cowering in fear and grabbing the Osty.

Made my stomach turn.  Not only were the sector counts equal, it was right over Bish base!! Gonna fly for the Rook for a while.

Theres the smiley

Yet another c-hog post. Yeager, for all yer complainin... I suggest you take it out for a spin just *once*.

You say it can rev and catch a pony that blows straight through. Nonsense. You mentioned an engagement where a hog made a turn and lost no E... nonsense.

I would expect someone with such strong convictions to at least explore this'anomaly'. But no.. either you haven't flown it yourself this tour, or you haven't gotten any kills in it. Either way, it gives no credibility to your claims.

Yet the constant posting about it.... <sigh>

Post a film of an uhm... lets say... 7 kill sortie. It's an uber plane Yeager... this should be no problem.

----edit-------

Hmm... Ok, I checked yer Hog stats earlier today after reading yet another one of yer c-hog posts. It showed you as flying in it as none... zero...goose egg... no stick time.

I just check it a sec ago, and voila... You actually went for a hop in it today.

You got 1 kill and got killed twice.

'nuff said.

Negative advertisement at work, when one complains about a certain airframe being uber, end results are an arena full of that plane...

Hi yeager... <S>

I'm no longer quite sure what your point is.  Something doesn't make sense to me about your position, so perhaps you could explain what I'm missing.

I just checked your stats for the most recent two fully complete tours 7 and 8.

In tour 7 you killed the F4U-1c 33 times while only dying against it 13 times.
In tour 8 you killed the F4U-1c 26 times while only dying against it 9 times.

Outstanding flying.... <S>

God help the rest of us if you ever decided to take up the over modeled "uber" F4U-1c against us.

Regards,
Badger

Yeager,

You are showing quite the pension for exageration.  Its time to let this Chog thing go.  The people that know what this plane can/can't do are being outweighed by the people that are believing you when you say its uber.

Its time for Cobra's "time to stop digging" post.

Guys...

If the f4u1c is such an average ride, then why are so many driving it? From what I just read above, I guess it's Yeagers fault for speaking of it in so many posts?

Imho, the biggest advantage this bird has  are it's guns...if you chk my stats against all aircraft, the only one which enjoys an advantage over me is the f4u1c....I don't believe this is due to its FM, but to its guns.

Towd took my entire V stab off from 700 out the other night with what I heard as just one ping...now I know that it was more than one ping, but you know what I'm refering to here.

The f4u1c really doesn't bother me much at all, but that doesn't mean that what Yeager is saying holds no truth.

We are squadmates in an all 51 squadron which is why you see him with no stick time in the f4....to be able to fly the 51 exclusively and enjoy the success we've had is an accomplishment...to have the f4u1c with the big guns, is a luxury

Out!

With all due respect Ice, I think you answered your own question:

Answer:

If you chk my stats against all aircraft, the only one which enjoys an advantage over me is the f4u1c...

My recommendation is this, fly one solely for a tour...my findings are, yes, the guns are good, but not as good as some claim, better than the German 20mm, and better than the .50 cal, as historically it should be, but the disadvantage once low and slow outweighs the guns, in other words, newbies that fly it are easy to kill, as long as you don't position yourself for a HO or screw up and give them a snap shot, but experienced pilots are deadly in it, as they would be in any other plane.

Edit: Wanted to add that the F4U-1C has a GREAT reversal turn for 1 turn, after that you must depend on a notch of flaps to turn inside the P51.  It  also has a great zoom ability, which it also historically had.  Maintain E, this thing is deadly, turn it like a spit and your deadly for about 30 seconds, after that, you dead meat.

I split my time in both hogs and I went where the action was at 22.   Numbers were even.  yeager... please fly the chog for an entire tour or two and let's see how you do.   With it's one ping laser cannon you should have no assists... With it's ability to reverse at will and gain e in the process, you should have no deaths.

The guns work good.. other than that it is a fast plane with sub par handling and acceleration and climb.  They are perhaps (as yeagers score shows) the easiest plane in the game to kill bar none.

Newbies like em cause if they hit something it dies.   Newbies die in em because it is a difficult plane to survive in.   Newbies die all the time anyway so all they notice is that the guns work and..... That a lot of people tell them that it is possed of magical handling qualities.... A lot of people that should know better.

Yeager, the snipe at AW was uncalled for imo. For all my reading between various boards what you saw last night sounds much more like what the WB WWIIarena is. Albiet with P-51's..

Anyway..that's neither here nor there.  Was the problem that most of the aircraft were F4U's or that they were doing that odd behavior that it seems only you, myself and a few others have seen?  The people doing the odd maneuvers and behavior certainly are mum      I think they've found a "catch" in the FM and are taking advantage of it. Like the Spitfire guys doing the Flipper Dance or the WB  FW-190 drivers doing the flick/rolls.

I just want to mention something....

I logged in for a single sortie early last night.  I ran into a whole raft of nits, and I was in a Jug (full of fuel too...).  I saw, if I remember correctly:

A spit, a Yak, two N1k's, an F4U (don't know which one), two 109's, a 190, and a Zeke (that eventually killed me after the Yak and 109 ran me down and forced me to rev.  Got one of 'em first though.)  Might have been another 190 an possibly a 205 around, but I didn't have time to check, I was busy turning on the deck with a bunch of guys. (Yes, I was doing that with a Jug.  Yes, I am a dweeb.  Yes, I died.   )

Folks, that is quite a nice assortment of enemies.  Maybe I fly too early in the day, but I see a nice assortment of enemy airplanes when I fly.  I see a few N1k's, but not many C-Hogs really.  I think I see more 109's than C-Hogs lately... and that's saying something.  Actually, I wish more folks were in C-Hogs, those damn 109's can accellerate fast enough to catch me if I'm not high enough to dive to "Insane Speed" (TM).  Bastards.

Often times the Knights will stage a raid on an air base.  It is not un-common to see 8-12 or the same A/C in the attack JABO role.

Maybe it was a raid of this sort I don't know.

IMHO the Chog is the the best A/C in the MA for this mission.  While it can't carry the number of rockets that the other Allied JABO can, it excels for several reasons.

  • Very tough A/C
  • Very maneuverable A/C
  • Can carry 2 x 1000lb bombs
  • Guns are very effective against ground structures
  • Guns are very effective against ground vehicles
  • Guns have a large ammo load
Agree or not, the Chog is simply the best multi-role A/C in the game.
