Wanting to try something new...
« on: July 23, 2003, 10:52:52 PM »
Ok, I was just in the MA (I fly Rook) and I witnessed the Knights take 5 rook bases in less than 20 minutes. When someone asked why we weren't defending them, the response was "Playing Defense is the same as losing"

This sounds like the dumbest philosophy I've heard in a while

So I want to start a new Squadron, specializing in Organized Field Defense.
It's not glamorous, it's not romantic, but it needs to be done.

Everytime there's a massive offensive, we lose bases on our other line, so we need guys to hang back and hold it while everybody else pushes the offense.

If you're interested, reply to this thread, catch me on AH (my handle is Kncklhed) or e-mail me at mean_ugly_dog@yahoo.com

Good Luck with your new squadron. The next time we in VF-17 head off to close a bunch of Rook fields and set the capture wheels in motion we will be on the lookout for your "partisan defenders". :)

Hmmm that might be a good name for a squadron that specializes in defense and disruption of bad guy captures.

Actually, I was thinking "Junkyard Dogs"

"Partisan Defenders" doesn't really inspire fear. lol:D

Anything with a dog name has to be good. Best of luck with your new squad. :)

id be interested - let me know some times and such.

what about a name like "the River Rattlers" (that was my f-18 squadron in the Navy) it applies to a ground force a lot better. i wanted to use it for a PT squad if i could form one. that would be a good line of defense like youre talking about. with the added advantage of mobility. just limit the area of patrol and group boats together for more firepower.

As a pilot for the Knights I think you have a terrible idea, you should not protect a base against an attack, you should run and make my life easier. Why should I have to fight my way into a capture. It is just not good strategy to maintain a safe home field or try and beat back an opposing force. :D

Best of Luck with your new squad
