Skuzzy? What's the fret?
« on: July 24, 2003, 04:53:35 PM »
Skuzzy. You're actually worrying me here. After all, there's no way in hades something like that could really happen, right? What's wrong with reinforcing that within the community? It was such an outlandish claim ... though some may believe it, I suppose. I can't understand squashing it with such urgency if it's no actual threat.

We've had other threads that dealt with players making outlandish hacking claims before ... and the community managed to help aleviate the concerns of the posters.

Hacking the mainframe to add an F-16 to Aces High? Yeah right!

No threat there, right, Skuzzy? Though it's hardly worth ridicule, may as well.

Estes, buddy, don't believe half what you read in the buffer, but you're still a good soul for giving a heads up. I seriously doubt that individual could hack it's way into a bag of cheetos. I can't understand why Skuzzy is so worried about your bringing it up here ... but I agree ... send it to HTC officially (just to be safe - lol). :D

I knew he was full of sheet, I just wanted to bring it to the community.  I have seen other threads similar. Sorry skuzzy, didn't know. shrugs. I did send an email to him, didn't see the picture, he has seen it.

Here is the problem.  Once someone starts talking about it, no matter how outlandish it is, the new people will get concerned.  We get flooded with email and the board becomes a haven for paranoia.
It all ends up costing us time, when there is no real reason for it.

We appreciate the concerns of the community and appreciate the heads up when things like this happen.  We just ask that it gets nipped in the bud quietly.  No reason to make a public spectacle of it.

Thanks arlo for starting this thread!

Skuzzy,  As Estes is currently a respected member of the 339th, your initial comment to him and the removal of his post/s gave me cause to say hmmm.........  Thanks very much for a better understanding of your actions/comments.
I should think that the best "Policing" AH can have is that that's contributed from within the community.  I tended to agree with arlo but your explanation is now sufficient for me.
Thanks again

Every post claiming hacks & cheats ultimatley delays HTC's progress on its mission...in this case AH2.

Give it a rest folks.

The posts don't delay anything, really. Dozens of emails a day might. I said ..... might. ;)

Yeah Dmax,  Don't report a robbery at your local bank.  After all the Police are very busy these days and then there's the economy of the Donut shops to consider.

Sheeesh!

Horrible analogy Dracon.  In this case it's all about an unecessary report to the authorities that someone called up another and asked if they had Prince Albert in a can or if thier refrigerator was running.
