actually there were 620 Mustang 1's built and 150 1A's.   The 1's had a 2 to 1 kill ratio against german ac even tho they were suppossed to be armed "recon" aircraft.   They were about the only thing around that would chase down (and kill) a 190 on the deck in '42.

do 450 mph at 5k alt.
