Great game...

The Subsim site has some minor editing so that you can change the name and model of your main character...

mine is the "Capitan" model (earing and he is bald too.. he looks cool like a real mean pirate)

Traderoutes spoilers its all there between the two sites...

enjoy...

potc all i been playing, lotta annoying bugs, and gaps in the dialogs, but fun none the less...

I cheated!!  I have made some changes so I started in a Schooner, and get 6 skill and 2 ability points per level +)

I am off to destroy Greenford fort now.

btw check out Sea Dogs if ya see it in the bargain bin  (I recently got it for $8 at EBgames), its the predecessor and a slightly better game than potc

Danke all.

Right now Im in the process of 're-searching' for that Rhaims guy.  I found him with the help of Vincent and the girl, but I cant find them after I fight the pursuers and they run off.

All well... the endless process of load, die, load, get frustrated, load, etc etc etc continues.

What kind of ship/ships are you guys running?

After I found the 50,000 worth of silver in the old wreck I elected to buy a Schooner and another Luger instead of one bigger ship.  Seems to be working alright thus far although Im lusting after a Frigate.

All in all, great game - some bugs, some stupid typographical errors, but easily looked beyond.  Ive even grown to like the movement/fighting controls, which I dispised at first.

they run off...

Go past the first intersection, turn left at the one after that.

50,000 in old wreck?? where?

ditch the lugger asap...  most maneuverable ship sure, but not enough guns or cargo space...

Ships... currently a Man-o-war, 2 battleships, and a galleon  (gonna start fresh with no cheats though)

Quick ways to make money... do jobs for the merchants.  Once you have a big enough ship, think a schooner will do.  Note!!  when given a delivery by a merchant PAY ATTENTION TO THE DIALOG!!  the quest log often gets the destination wrong...

Board ships and sell them.

For hiring officers:  tell them they want too much, keep doing it, and usually they will pay you to join your crew.

Somewhere along the line (likely after disney stepped in...) the game was basically tuned for the arcade sailing model, some events are practically impossible with realistic sailing enabled.
