Logo competition; win T-shirt (maybe) :D
« on: July 26, 2003, 05:52:37 AM »
The T.A.R (Team Ace Rimmer) skydiving team is coming along nicely. So far there's only three of us, but that's enough for an FF (Free Fly) team. Well, we need to buy a digital camera too. And train to use it. Maybe it'd help if we all could go head down at the same time too, but that's minor details to be ironed out later - the important bit is that we NEED a team t-shirt

That we suck compared to the elite doesn't matter; image is everything :D.

I must look respectable both on the ground and in the air (wearing a pink and purple rig with the text 'My Dear Teardrop on it :D). Different coloured socks only go so far - it is not enough.

So, we got a logo competition going for t-shirts and stuff and input will be appreciated.

For those of you unfamiliar with Ace Rimmer, he's a mega hero, an alter ego of a despicable character called Arnold Rimmer from the British sitcom 'Red Dwarf'. In one episode a Nazi leaves him fighting a crocodile on a pilotless plane with dynamite about to go off - Ace Rimmer naturally exits the plane fighting the croc, then skysurfs the croc down to the Nazi, removes his rig, dons it himself and proceeds to rescue a blonde to finish off with some sex (not shown, as Ace Rimmer usually have sex for about 24h at a time). Oh and the falling croc kills two guards seconds after they say 'That was Ace Rimmer - we're lucky to be alive!'.

He is a super hero of great dimensions. Or rather a charicacture(sp?) of James Bond or all American heros.

The first logo made by Claus 'Git' 'Insert ridiculous name here' 'and another here' 'and a third, wait make that fourth' 'vonSanta' Lisberg is a great one and will be hard to beat, especially since it took more than three minutes to create:

My Paint Skillz r00l. If I only found a way to make the lines look like actual air flow I'd really rule. The text not being straight is very much in the design. Absence of motto or other text is...uhm...for a later update.

If the logo also has the team motto: "Even with an IQ of 6000 it's still brown trousers time" there'll be bonus points.

An eventual winner of the competition gets sent a T-shirt once it has been printed, as well as great signed pictures of the superb and very well known (not at all, in fact) members. And assorted goodies if I find some typically Danish stuff lying around in the mess I call an apartment.

So, get cracking. Do my work for me and (maybe) I'll send the winner stuff.

It may just be me, but why would you name it Team Ace Rimmer? I'm getting a disturbing image in my head.
My mind is a raging torrent, flooded with rivulets of thought cascading into a waterfall of creative alternatives.
Stay thirsty my friends.

ummmm...you may want to re-think that team name, or at least keep that name quiet if you travel to North America.

Do you know what a rimmer...or rim-job is over there?

Well, there's nothing wrong with that name, but I'd be a little more straightforward.

How 'bout "The donut Lickerz"? :D:D

LOL, no, no idea what a rim-job is, but it seems to disgust you so it's probably not something 'nice.

You'll be happy to know that we'll be using an acronym, TAR, instead.

Geesh, cultural differences. I now know why Red Dwarf never became big in the US I guess,

Ace Rimmer because that is a character from a British sit com.

His alter ego is Arnold Judas Rimmer.

You yanks are so weird. A normal Brit name you have sexual issues with, but you don't see a problem calling someone Dick, despite it being a bona fide actual word for noodle.

Maybe one day I'll understand you :).

So 'T.A.R' it is.

"A rim job is when you lift your legs up above your head and have someone lick your ass."  -Cartman's Mom

I always though "Ace, rimmer" was what Gary said just before he took his pants off.  I think this is definitely a fitting name for your squad Santie!  :p
