His "Road" pictures contained the two greatest entertainers of the Twentieth Century. For all the work he did with the USO he deserves his own monument in Washington, D.C.

We may never see his like again. Farewell Bob.

I just watched his obituary on NBC, his broadcast home for over 60 years. His wife Delores asked him not long ago where he wanted to be buried. His reply, "Surprise Me." I'm not sure Bob would have wanted to be buried in Arlington, tho he more than earned it. I do belive this country owes him a debt than can never be repaid. Possibly, a memorial monument outside Arlington would be more appropriate for this American icon and Hero. Many younger Americans only have faint memories of corny jokes told during his annual Christmas specials, but those of us who grew up during the 60's may remember Bob was a Military target that was attacked in Vietnam, luckily they missed their target and bombed the hotel after he had left.

My grandfather always had nothing but the best to say about Bob Hope.

He was being shipped to the Pacific, early in the war when victory was far from certain and the Japanese war machine was at its height. My grandfather told me that he and his marine buddies were at a holding area that was completely fenced in with barbed wire because they considered the young men at risk to run.

Naturally, the barbed wire made them feel even more uneasy. During that mess, Bob Hope had done a short inpromptu show to pass the time and settle the men's minds for a time.

Oh, and my grandfather could never touch rice again after the war.

A good man has passed to his reward. I'm sure it will be a long time before we see anyone even near as classy as Bob was. Rest in Peace, I have no doubt there will be a Military escort for him to heaven.
