I hate to spoil a good dig but all our garbage in Toronto gets shipped to landfills in Detroit...I switched from cloth to Pampers when I found out about this.

My wife just bought a Protege5 and it's made in Japan...What rules make it American made?

I used to try real hard to buy american cars.  back in 86 when I bought my first new car, I payed extra to get a ford, I could have bought a simular import for much less.

after a couple months wondering where all the metric bolts came from it turns out that most all the electric was from mexico, most of the rest was from argintina (If I recall corectly).

turns out you just make money for american companys when you buy most 'american cars', you don't do crap for american auto workers.

do we even make any cars here anymore?  or just bolt together the large peices that where built elsewhere?

Guess I should've added... that was 1997/8 or so... not sure what it is now.

FWIW, my 2000 Nissan was made in the U.S.
