Finally!
I know that header sounds stupid to some of you "vets" in here, but I work 12 hour days & my family takes up most of what's left of my free time, so I only fly an hour or so a week, and sometimes go as much as 2 weeks between sessions. It's hard to learn how to play under those conditions.
Last night during the virtual early morning hours I got my first 2 kills, a Spit and a Stang, both with a P47/25.
The spit was a lucky kill; it just appeared in front of my guns from behind and I whacked it reflexively; I think it was coming from above and overshot.
The Stang could've used a "check 6" call; if ever there was a historically accurate shoot-down, this was it. I don't think the pilot saw me until he went boom. I got real close and pushed both buttons, opening up all 8 .50s. I felt like Puff the Magic Dragon; they chewed that sucker right up.
That P47/25 is a nice ride, not at all the liability it was in... <ahem>, some other sim. A poor man's Typhoon, maybe? I don't know enough about the perk planes to make a comparison, and I'll never get a perk ride, but I think that this plane is OK with me, for now anyhow. I figure, keep it fast, and stay aware, and it'll get me around the arena just fine.
