Hiya's Mav,
There's a pretty good write up in the help files included with the TE. But, just in case those aren't clear enough, here's the way to do it:
Starting points to remember
- All roads, railways and "rivers" (for barges) start out as Roads.
- Speed of vehicle types is based on time - 10 minutes to be exact. Each grid square is a mile by a mile so build your roads so that the vehicle speed is reasonable (eg: build your railroads 10 miles long and your trains will travel at 60mph over the ground, set your roads [for convoys] at 8 miles long so your truck convoys travel at 48mph, for barge convoys set river length to 2 or 3 miles long - boats are slow).
How to do it:
- click on the centre of the grid you want your road to start at (away from your destination or your convoy will travel away from your field/city/factory)
- in the TE click on the roads tab, then "add road".
- drag the road waypoint to your destination point. Roads in AH can't run diagonally, only n/s or e/w so you'll need a waypoint for every turn in your road.
- once you've got your road in, click on the "properties" button and set the track type and resource type you want - don't try to change the track name.
- if the road will be used for convoys to supply a field, check the "Field" radio button and then insert the field number - no "A", "V", or "P" just the number.
That should finish up the road work. Now to make it work on the terrain and need to add a convoy - click on the objects tab, then select "convoy" and place this at the terminal end of your road. Make sure your convoy objects belong to the field they supply.
- click on the "Change All" button in the objects screen and then select your track number from the pull down list in the "object data" fields.
The road should work. Follow the same procedure for trains and barge convoys. - enjoy.
Cheers,
