At first.... many many mnay thanks to our guide for letting us do things that we would never been allowed to do in any other museum! Thanks Kris! :)
Also... the museum crew know ALL about the history of the planes that are presented there... technical details and history of avaition in general!
We came there on Monday and... you couldn't believe that Museum was closed at that day... what a badluck - we thought.
Well... i decided to give it a try and knock to the office door hoping that they will allow us to see only one plane - my beloved PZL P11C... after short chat with some lady in the office i was i introduced to the director of the Museum and he appeared to be very nice person! He assigned us a "private" guide (because the hanger were closed and there were no other visitors... i realised that Manday is a maitenance day there).
We walked int ot e hangar and.... it's another wolrd... really.
Now you will see only some small part of what is presented there.
Let me add that we've spent there about 3-4 hours and was invited to stay there some longer... it was a TOTAL BLAST :D
Sitting in a PZL (one and only that survived the war and by the way is able to fly!) or in the Spitfire was an expirience that i will never forget :) Also i hope that will be able to jump into that 109 and few others someday in future!

Now it's a good time for the pictures:

Unfortunatelly due to the images limit on this BB i have to post you the link to the Northolt Wing BB thread. No registeration needed... just click and enjoy :)

Wow, great pics. Thanx Bike. :)

Do you think the Spits looked that glossy in the 1940's, or is that something that museums do for preservation?

We all have a blind date with Destiny... and it looks like she's ordered the lobster.

slightly unrelated question:

Why did the Polish Air Force still use the PZL11 in the beginning of the war, when they already had the improved PZL24, which they were also exporting like crazy?
Makes me think of Polak jokes :)
Mind you, it wouldn't have made much of a diffrence when the Luftwaffe attacked.

thanks Dux :)
I could give you some more detailed of the history of that exact airplane... but to answer your question - it wasn't repainted after Museum got that plane :) Of course that exact one might been repainted after the war before the Museum got him :) If it's interesting for you i will check that and will let you know :)

Udet,
to answer your question let me give you some backgroud of Polish history :)
After being most (or at least one of the most) powerfull nations in (lat's say) mid ages we ended up as a poor and small country. We've been deleted from the map few times... we've been partitioned 3 times... simply we were no longer existing.
Fortunatelly we get our freedom back but... between the WW1 and WW2 we got involved with fighting with the "Russians"... and finally we've stopped them in Warsaw then pushed back...

At that times MOST of the military strategies were based on the WW1 (just look and France and GB to see how outdated their strategies were) and there were NOT so concernet about the airplanes.
With no doubt Germans developed some new and effective strategies before WW2 :)

Other also really important thing was the money. As i mentioned we were poor country and we've no founds to produce the plane ONLy for our pruposes... but we've found the market for the plane so we decided to sell it and put the money  where we needed them mostly. I can only guess that our leaders made that decision based on the fact that PZL P24 was just a modified PZL P11c... and when you look at this while remembering that our leaders decided to use the airforce in some marginal way, you will see the reason for that state of things.
Yes, you are right that we should just try to equip some units in this fighter :) Also you are right that it wouldn't help much in 39' :)

Just wanted you to have some background and the reasons of this... with adding that it's just my point of view on that case :)

WOW, great opportunity! Nice pics :)
